Bellydancing And Beyond

Yep that’s right, this money making mama of 5 is learning to bellydance, and for those of you who have asked here are a couple pics. Now remember, I am just learning it LOL, so I don’t have the full bellydancing outfit yet, only my coin belt, but you get the point LOL. And for those of you eager to see the full costumed pics, remember this girl is gothic, and so the outfit I have in mind ain’t the typical bellydancing outfit LOL.

Anyways, here is the first pic ever released of this bellydancing, money making mama LOL.

Build A Relationship And The Rest Will Follow

One of the things many people miss with Twitter, Facebook and all other social media platforms (and often marketing in general) is the importance of building a relationship.

Too often on a site like Twitter or Facebook the end goal becomes getting the biggest number of followers, when the true goal should actually be building the largest number of relationships.

You see a follower is just that, they will follow you, sometimes listen to you, sometimes believe you, sometimes interact with you, and sometimes buy from you.

And of course the goal of marketing, is to get someone to buy from you. But followers only do this sometimes.

Those who you’ve built relationships do it a lot more often. Because they trust you, because they know you and because you are more than just a name on a screen to them. You are a real live, breathing person. And because of that, they will do business more often with you.

Just look at some of the bigger names to see how true this is. There are people who have branded themselves, and built a relationship of trust with those around them that they can simply send a little email with a link and a “CLICK HERE” message, and you know what, people will buy it.

Would they do the same from someone who they were simply following? Perhaps, but highly unlikely. They are buying YOU. Yourself and your brand are what they are buying.

How do you build a relationship then?

Join their lists if they have one. This way you get to know their styles, their marketing, pretty much as much as possible about them.

Interact with them. If they send a email asking for help, or a couple questions etc, take the time to respond. You’d be amazed how simple this is, but how well it can help you build a relationship with them.

Promote them. Even if you don’t get anything for it. Or if you’d rather get “something” from it, be an affiliate for them.

Give them ideas. Got an idea that is perfect for their market, or something that could be added to one of their products etc, let them know. Sometimes giving without having to get in return, is the best way to “get” something in return.

Talk to them. They are real people after all (at least most of them LOL) Shoot them off an email, wish them a happy birthday on their birthday, anything to make yourself stand out from the rest of the bunch.

So when it comes to Twitter and other social media platforms you need to take a look at HOW you are building your business on them. Are you building followers? Or are you building relationships?

Ezine Articles 100 Hundred Articles Challenge

I keep missing them, but now that they have put it in the authors area, I know ahead of time, and am in on this one.

If you don’t know what I am talking about EzineArticles.com runs a cool little promo where they try to get you to write 100 articles in 100 days. Not difficult right, that’s only 1 article a day, and really that can eb all it takes to start building an income online.

So now that you are up to speed, I have decided to try and join in this time.

You see, I already write one article a day for Examiner.com so it will only take a couple extra minutes to submit it to EzineArticles as well, but it offers some major benefits. Now I will have twice as many backlinks to my site, twice (if not more as EzinesArticles has a massive readership base) as much traffic to my site, and simply more eyeballs on my articles. Plus, it could boost my income up.

But instead of the 100 article goal, I am going to try, (and I say try cause I know life has a way of, while, getting in the way LOL,) for 300. This is only 3 articles a day. And this way, I can drive traffic to 3 sites instead. The one article on Twitter will go to both EzinesArticles and Examiner, but the other two will go to EzinesArticles and point at two of my other sites.

And you may be asking why I don’t go for 3 all going to the same site, and it’s quite simple, I don’t want to be competing with my own articles for EzineArticles traffic. I would much rather tap into 3 different niches.

Of course, I will also publish the articles to my own sites as well, because, I love having my own search engine food and readership as well.

Wish me luck,

Sylvia

10 Years In Retrospect

After you do anything for a time, you look back and wonder what you would’ve done different, what you would’ve changed etc. And with 10 years being online approaching this June, I’ve done just that, and I thought I would share some of my insights.

Stop Chasing  Shiny Things.

I would’ve stuck to one thing and pushed it. Think of where I would be if I had started article marketing 10 years ago… would’ve had quite the nice passive income for sure. Stop doing the oh shiny dance. Stick to something for an actual reasonable amount of time to test and find out if it works or doesn’t.

Build A List. LOL.

I never thought I would say that. Really I thought why the hell would these people want to keep hearing from me? Well, I started building my list, and guess what, I lose very few subscribers and it is continually growing. Had I started this 10 years ago, instead of this year, again my income would be very different for sure.

Now I can send out an email and watch my bank account grow, knowing I am helping those people reach their own personal goals.

And I LOVE just love the relationships I have built this way.

Brand yourself.

Make a name for yourself and stick to it.

I’ve always been me online. I have gone through different usernames etc, but in the end I went with my own name, and although that in itself can carry certain issues, I wish I would’ve started that way from the start, instead of only the last two years.

In just two years I dominate my name, you punch my name in the search engines and it’s all me. Think of the branding power this would give someone after 10 years.

Build relationships.

I never thought about this power when I started. I did of course build a few in the beginning and I still work with them today, but I never did it to the extent I should’ve.

See, a big part of this online game is networking and relationships. Without some form of relationship, I never would have gotten to work with wonderful people like (in no particular order) Allen Says, Jim Straw, James Jones, Scot Standke, Loud Mac, Vegas Vince and the list just goes on. Had you asked me a couple years if I thought any of those names would’ve even given me the time of day, I would’ve laughed. They were the “big boys” I was just me. But through building relationships I have worked and cross promoted with all of them.

Never give up.

Now I am not saying banging your head against the wall for ten years is the most fun, but keep trying. If it means you have to get a real “job” well you learn it, then do it. It took me these 10 years to break the 6 figure mark, and you know what? I’m proud of that. I came online thinking it was a get rich quick world, only to find out that it takes hard work and dedication, just like anything in life.

Mastermind

This is something I only realized recently (Thanks Vince) More than one brain is better and can make ideas flow a whole lot better, and you will be amazed some of the things you can come up with this way.

Learn from those that know.

There are people who really know what they are talking about.

Learn to listen to what they are saying.

I have picked up and advanced my own copywriting skills listening to tips from Loud Mac. I’ve learned alot about article marketing from Allen Graves and Steven W. I’ve learned a lot about business from Allen Says and Jim Straw. I’ve learned a lot about barter and branding from Vegas Vince.

Point is, I shut up and listened to what they had to say, and used that to better my business.

So for those of you just getting started, or for those of you needing that extra pick me up, I hope this helps, because this can be a very hard business to get a grasp of, but once you do, it can pay off big time.

I hope this helps anyone, and if it helps just one person it did it’s job.

Best wishes,
Sylvia
