Laying The Groundwork

December 30th, 2008

I realized I was working quite scattered and although I am one to much better complete many tasks at various levels than to focus purely on one thing to the end I realized I had to adjust some things. So I sat down with a pen and paper (yes some of us do still use pens and paper) and wrote out all the ideas that came to my head. Clearing my brain of all these random ideas and thoughts helps me to regain focus, not to mention that it also helps me to see exactly how many probable ideas I have that can turn a profit.

One of the biggest things I realized it that memberships can be utilized in each and every niche out there, whether it is purely a content driven membership or something more evolved their are plenty of ways to use them. Something I did to help brainstorm ideas was to go through the niche empires site and see what kinds of materials I had right there at my disposal and you know what there are plenty.

If I choose to start a membership on learning languages I could, if I wanted to start one on parenting, more then enough info again. Marketing, tons of it, just gotta remember that’s a hard market, nothing like marketing to marketers. The only place I ever jump in there is more along the lines of stuff for beginners and as we all know, now is the perfect time to grasp hold of that niche. Tons of newcomers are coming online every day now. So many have lost their jobs and are on the brink of losing their homes that they need to find alternative methods and for once anyone of us who are already online are ahead of the learning curve and stand to make a substantial profit in these hard times, even if we offer our products and information at dirt cheap prices.

Taking A Step Back

December 29th, 2008

I think I jumped into everything a little to fast, a little too hot and a little too ready to go. I am not saying that doing this is a bad thing, I just think for me I need to take a step back and really lay out a blueprint for myself. Lay out a monthly plan, a monthly goal, breaking things down into consumable chunks and move from there. And since it is not technically even the 1st of January I thought doing that now would be the best time and from there I can see exactly where to go.

I am still going to proceed with the ebook on setting up membership sites easily and fully automated but some recent changes to the plugin have caused me to step back and re-evaluate the approach. Of course for the beginner only running one or two of these sites it is easy enough to manage and accept all memberships manually but for a site like TodaysCookie.com manual approval doesn’t cut it. They need the recipe now, not in a few hours and I think having to await approval would drastically kill my conversions and sales so that is a site that needs to be automated now. I am wondering if I keep running the previous version for the time being if it will still remain automated or if I need to upgrade right away.

Personally I think if you have the money to invest, upgrade the memberwing plugin and go for the automation, it will save time and essentially money down the road, but for my book it won’t cut it because the main aspect is for low to no cost, although even under $100 can be classified that, but just not the same appeal.

Another thing I am going to alter is that the cooking niche membership won’t post quite so often, I don’t want the search engines or the pinging sites to black list as being spam, so instead of posting 4 an hour, I am going to drop it back to once an hour, 24 recipes a day is still quite a few and it still works out to a very nice ROI for the purchasers of the membership site.

Multiple Automated Membership Sites

December 27th, 2008

So I didn’t get a chance to update again yesterday, sometimes real life does take precedence, but I am still at it. I will make my first $1M before my 30th birthday and I have so many ideas started towards that goal that I know I can do this and I know as more cash flows in that it will only motivate me further.

Anyways though, this is more on the multiple automated membership sites.

Either I need to set it up so that my two most active and most urgent activation sites are set to be the ones automatically given access, or I still have to find another solution. So for now, this one and my new cooking site will both be automated. As I expand I may have to juggle and figure which ones truly need the instant activation and which can handle up to 24 hour delays for activation.

This may very well become an issue in the future if I have 18 or so of these sites up and running as I would be spending all day activating people, which of  course takes away from a major part and reason for my goal. I work online to spend more time with my family, not more time with my computer. Although I know that I can outsource this down the road, I honestly do not know if I would be comfortable with someone else being in my Paypal account and essentially in charge of my membership.

We will simply have to see as things proceed.

For today I simply am continuing to add content to TodaysCookie.com in order to load all the possible info I can for it, because simply put if all I need is one day a year to take care of it, the ROI is major.

I am also following along with everything taking screen shots in order to use in my new book on setting up membership sites simply.

Happy Holidays Everyone

December 26th, 2008

Just want to wish everyone happy holidays before I begin today’s post. So here is wishing each and everyone the best holidays ever and that the new year be the best one yet.

I have begun work on my new site and am now in a bit of a jam. The way I have set up the membership sites requires changing the IPN from the backend of the Paypal account and since it seems you can only do it per URL I am left trying to figure out what to do in order to set up multiple sites on one Paypal account. Now I know Payal allows one personal and one business account but if you were to set up more than two you would run into the same issue so I am looking into ways to resolve this and so even though I have begun to add content to the new site it is not published it is simply saved as drafts. This way once I have a resolution I can turn them all to published and let it drip feed the content as planned without it all being indexed by the search engines without the appropriate parts blocked for the member only content.

Stay tuned for a more in depth update later today.

Initial Project Has Begun

December 24th, 2008

After trying forever to find the perfect domain name, I found one and bought it. My first project of the year 2009 will be www.TodaysCookie.com It will be a site dedicated to recipes. And it has all the potential to really be a big money maker, and here’s how:

The way it will be set up is to autopost a new cooking recipe every 15 minutes. Yes this is a lot but the database of recipes I am working with is well into the 10’s of thousands. The way I will set it up is that I will spend a few days getting all the content up to go and post by itself.

Above the membership required line will be the ingredients as well as the name of the recipe (of course, this will be the post name) Below the member only area will be the exact details on how to make the recipe. This way it will have thousands of recipes and for just $10 a month you would get around 3K recipes. Much more content than you would get out of those $20-$40 cooking books.

And I will also set it up to have a search function so you can search through the recipes, as well as setting it up to have distinguishable categories so that anyone can find what they are looking for easily. And I figure by having 3Kish posts a month, the search engines will eat it up. (No pun intended).

Now since it is the holidays I may have to wait till boxing day or a little later to actually put this in motion, but I have already taken the steps of picking the domain name and purchasing it (domain sale coupon for namecheap this month is THREEKINGS) and downloading all the recipe packs from the Niche Empire site.

I have also begun on my other project of writing an e-book about how to set up a niche membership site, and will be going through the exact steps and taking screen shots as I set up my www.TodaysCookie.com site.

Till we blog again,

Sylvia
